Brigid Pooler
" Gilbert "

BRIGID POOLER is an enthusiastic Holy Cross fan. "Bib" has had a very interesting life at Bapst. Where others may have worried and fretted about dates or parties, "Bib" never did, and maybe that is why she is such a staunch Cross fan. Other than to usher and to be a member of the dance committee for the 1952 Senior - Junior Prom, "Bib" has confined her interests. She has the most lofty ideals of any of the Seniors. If her plans work out, "Bib" will become an airline hostess.

After graduation and working a few months for my father at Dow AFB, I met a young man, Dan Gilbert, from Louisiana who was a pilot with the 506TH Wing.

We were married in January 1954.

After that we transferred to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma and lived there for almost two years. We then decided that Air Force life wasn't what we wanted, so we left Oklahoma in 1956 for St. Louis, Missouri.

Dan went to work for McDonnell Aircraft Company and began flying for the National Guard.

He was called to active duty during the 1961 Berlin Crisis and spent 11 months on active duty. Then back to MAC, where he traveled a lot, retiring as Director of International Marketing.

I was a stay-at-home Mom while Dan was with MAC, although I did do volunteer work at a new hospital as Manager and Buyer for the gift shop for about ten years.

We have four children, two boys and two girls, all married, and five grandchildren.

When Dan retired in 1987, I decided to pursue a lifelong hobby - antiques. On weekends we look for items to fill my shop in Pocohantas, Illinois.

During the week it's gardening, golf and whatever else we decide to do.

I'm looking forward to seeing many old friends at our reunion.
